Rosemary Beach Series Book #11
When I’m Gone is the first installment of these two characters’ story and must be read first. I have read the books mostly in order and it does help but not vital.
Book Boyfriend: 💋💋💋💋
Mase Colt Manning is everything a girl could want. He has a rock star dad but chooses to live a life on a farm raising cattle. He’s understanding, protective, loyal, humble with a touch of arrogance, SMOKIN’ HOT but a bit smothering. He’s exactly what Reese needs in a man but for me, he would be suffocating. He is truly devoted to Reese and helping her heal and put her life back together. Mase restores her confidence in not only herself but humanity.
Strong Female Lead: 💋💋💋
Reese Ellis has been through a lot in her lifetime and when Mase found her, she was a shell of a woman. She was broken and weak. Reese never knew her biological father and grew up in an abusive household. She has overcome many things, and Mase helps her discover that she can heal, be confident and live a full life. Although Reese does defeat her demons, she is still needy and fears upsetting Mase with even small things. She does become stronger and more independent but not enough to be considered a strong female lead.
I thought the first book ended nicely and that’s why it took so long for me to read the second. If I looked as these two books as one, I would have given the plot a higher rating. The second book lacks a good plot. There is an event that happens which affects the story line but the resolution is quick. I believe it was a part of the story to give Reese resolution from her past but also to set up the next book in the series.
Steamy Factor: 💋💋💋💋💋
Mucho caliente!! Steaminess galore. If you are into fogging up windows then this book will not let you down. A good percentage of the book is sex or talk of sex. I really feel the first book set up the characters and this book was more the physical side and learning information for the next book(s).
I believe the two books would have been better combine. The first book had a lot of character depth and growth and the second book was a lot of sex. I’m glad that I read it because the reader learned more about Reeses’ family and set up the next two books in the series. I would recommend this book only if you plan to read both books one after another, as if they were one.
Book Summary from author:
The future is bright for Reese Ellis. She has Mase Colt-Manning, the man of her dreams, and a family she didn’t know existed until her long-lost father arrived on her doorstep in Rosemary Beach. After growing up with a cruel mother and abusive stepfather, Reese is eager to get to know the caring and charming man who wants to be a part of her life. Everything is finally falling into place.
While Reese is visiting her new family in Chicago, Mase spends time with his “cousin,” Aida, who has worshipped him since childhood. Though they’re unrelated by blood, Mase and Aida have been raised to think of each other as family. But when Reese returns, she can tell something isn’t quite right with Aida, who clearly resents Reese and excels at manipulative little games. And though Mase is unsuspecting, Reese knows Aida doesn’t love him like a cousin should…
