Paranormal Romance by Jennifer Armentrout

Wicked Series (novella 3.5)

Book Boyfriend: 💋💋💋💋
The Prince, Caden, is not your normal leading man.  He is a prince of the summer fae who was once possessed by the winter queen.  She made him do unspeakable things that he couldn’t control but remembers completely.  He is a gorgeous, well-built, lone wolf that only really talks to his brother. The Prince is royalty which makes him stronger, faster and more powerful than most fae.  He carries a lot of guilt with him over the things he did while under the control of the queen and he wants revenge.

Strong Female Lead: 💋💋💋💋
Brighton Jussier was a wallflower.  Hardly a blip on the radar. She liked it that way.  She took care of her mom and did menial desk jobs for the order.  Brighton wasn’t a fighter. She wasn’t sought after for dates. She existed.  Until she was brutally attacked by four fae and almost died. Her life changed that night.  Brighton took her future into her own hands and trained. She didn’t let others know her about her personal vendetta to track and kill the fae that attacked her because they would stop her.  And nothing could keep her from this mission. Nothing.

Plot: 💋💋💋
I have to start by saying that I wish this was a full length book because I was left bereft at the end.  I felt like the novella was just getting started when it ended. I wanted, no, needed more. I gave it a 3 because I felt like there could have been more included in the story line.  I understand it was a novella and they are shorter but I honestly thought the story ended abruptly and I was left saying, “What?!” Luckily, there is another novella coming out in 2019 that picks the story up where this one ended. I’m hoping this will give me the closure this one lacked.

Steamy Factor: 💋💋
There’s about two steamy scenes but nothing more than some heavy petting.  The physical connection and chemistry definitely comes off the page but is pretty tame.

Overall: 💋💋💋.5
Like I said, I could not put the book down and read it straight through in a couple hours so it definitely had me engaged.  However, I felt like the story line might have been broken up to create 2 novellas and the story just ended without most loose ends tied up.  I just don’t really like when the plot diagram isn’t implemented – beginning, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. I HATE cliffhangers!

Book Summary from author:

She’s everything he wants….

Cold. Heartless. Deadly. Whispers of his name alone bring fear to fae and mortals alike. The Prince. There is nothing in the mortal world more dangerous than him. Haunted by a past he couldn’t control, all Caden desires is revenge against those who’d wronged him, trapping him in never-ending nightmare. And there is one person he knows can help him.

She’s everything he can’t have…

Raised within the Order, Brighton Jussier knows just how dangerous the Prince is, reformed or not. She’d seen firsthand what atrocities he could be capable of. The last thing she wants to do is help him, but he leaves her little choice. Forced to work alongside him, she begins to see the man under the bitter ice. Yearning for him feels like the definition of insanity, but there’s no denying the heat in his touch and the wicked promise is his stare.

She’s everything he’ll take….

But there’s someone out there who wants to return the Prince to his former self. A walking, breathing nightmare that is hell bent on destroying the world and everyone close to him. The last thing either of them needs is a distraction, but with the attraction growing between them each now, the one thing he wants more than anything may be the one thing that will be his undoing.

She’s everything he’d die for….
